Paresh Rawal has recently been in the spotlight after stepping away from the much-awaited film Hera Pheri 3. But this isn’t the first time Paresh Rawal has walked away from a big sequel. Before Hera Pheri 3, he also decided not to be part of OMG 2 – the follow-up to the hit film OMG! Oh My God, which released in 2012.
Why Paresh Rawal Rejected OMG 2
OMG! Oh My God was a big success and featured Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar in powerful roles. Naturally, fans expected both actors to return for the sequel. However, when OMG 2 was released in 2023, it was Pankaj Tripathi who took the lead role, not Paresh.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Paresh Rawal explained why he rejected the film. He said, “I didn’t like the script, so I didn’t want to be a part of it. I don’t believe in doing a sequel just to make money like we did in the case of Hera Pheri.”
Despite his absence, OMG 2 was well-received by the audience and praised for its bold message on sex education. The film became a box office hit. However, many fans still missed seeing Paresh Rawal, as he played an important role in the original.
The Real Reason Behind His Exit from Hera Pheri 3
When news broke that Paresh Rawal wouldn’t be returning to play Baburao in Hera Pheri 3, fans were shocked. In a conversation with Mid-Day, the actor shared, “I know it came as a shock to many. We three – Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and myself – had a great combination, especially with Priyadarshan directing us. But the truth is, I don’t feel like I’m part of it anymore.”
He added that even though audiences love the trio on screen, he had to make the decision based on what felt right for him.
