When Rakesh Roshan Wanted Ajay Devgn in Krrish 3 and Karan Arjun – Here’s why It didn’t work out.

Bollywood fans often wonder what their favorite films would look like with a different cast. Recently, veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan revealed an interesting detail about two of his blockbuster films — Krrish 3 and Karan Arjun. In a past conversation with News18 (via BollywoodShaadis.com), Rakesh Roshan shared that he had approached Ajay Devgn for important roles in both movies.

Ajay Devgn Was Offered the Villain’s Role in Krrish 3

Rakesh Roshan, who is known for directing the successful Krrish film series, said that he wanted Ajay Devgn to play the villain in Krrish 3. The role eventually went to Vivek Oberoi, but Ajay was his first choice.

Talking about this, Rakesh said, “We never got a chance to work together. I couldn’t make a film in which I could cast him. He’s a very fine actor. In every film, he leaves a big impact. I want to work with him, but I am not getting a chance. I did go to him for Krrish 3 to play Vivek Oberoi’s role.”

Ajay Devgn liked the story and screenplay of Krrish 3, but he felt unsure about playing a negative role. He believed that fans might not accept him as a villain, especially since he usually plays heroic characters.

Rakesh Roshan also shared what Ajay told him at the time. Ajay said, “Rakesh ji, mere liye ye karna thoda mushkil hoga kyunki main bhi hero hoon. Mujh end mein maare, accha nahi lagega. Aur aap toh compromise karenge nahi.”

This translates to: “Rakesh ji, this would be a bit difficult for me because I’m also a hero. If I get defeated in the end, it won’t look good. And I know you won’t compromise.”

Rakesh replied that he indeed wouldn’t compromise, which is why he narrated the full script beforehand.

Ajay Was Also Considered for Karan Arjun

Not just Krrish 3, Rakesh Roshan had also thought of Ajay Devgn for Karan Arjun, one of the classic Bollywood hits of the 1990s. According to reports, Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan were the first choices for the roles of Karan and Arjun.

Ajay was offered the role of Karan, which was later played by Salman Khan. Although Ajay had initially agreed, he later stepped away from the project due to “personal reasons.” Eventually, the film starred Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, and went on to become a massive hit.

Ajay Devgn’s Upcoming Movies

On the work front, Ajay Devgn is currently busy with several upcoming projects. His next big release is Raid 2, the sequel to his 2018 hit film Raid. He is also working on Son Of Sardar 2 and De De Pyaar De 2, both of which are expected to release later this year.

Even though Ajay Devgn didn’t end up working with Rakesh Roshan in those films, fans still hope they might collaborate in the future. With Ajay’s strong screen presence and Rakesh Roshan’s filmmaking skills, such a team-up would definitely be exciting to watch.
