Veera Dheera Sooran, starring Chiyaan Vikram, had all the ingredients to become a box office hit. With high expectations, a solid start, and a strong fan base, the film seemed to be on the right track. However, after a decent opening weekend, the film started losing momentum. Now, after 19 days, it’s clear that the movie will end its theatrical run without making a strong mark.
Good Start, But No Long-Term Hold
The movie began with a slow start but picked up pace during the first weekend. Fans of Chiyaan Vikram turned up in good numbers, especially for the Tamil version. However, the excitement didn’t last long. In the following days, the collection started dipping, and the film couldn’t maintain the same energy at the box office.
Adding to its problems, Ajith Kumar’s latest film, Good Bad Ugly, was released with a big buzz and affected the run of Veera Dheera Sooran. With audiences now focused on Ajith’s film, Vikram’s action thriller couldn’t get back on track.
19-Day Box Office Collection
As per the latest update, Veera Dheera Sooran has managed to earn only ₹65.30 crores worldwide in 19 days. Here’s a detailed breakdown:
- India net collection: ₹41.78 crores
- India gross collection: ₹49.30 crores (including taxes)
- Overseas collection: ₹16 crores
- Worldwide gross total: ₹65.30 crores
While this might look like a decent number on paper, it’s quite disappointing considering the film’s budget, scale, and Chiyaan Vikram’s popularity.
Telugu Version Underperforms
Interestingly, it’s only the Tamil version of the film that is bringing in any real revenue. The Telugu dubbed version hasn’t performed well and has collected less than ₹1.80 crores, which is far below expectations.
Fails to Beat Thangalaan
What makes matters worse is that Veera Dheera Sooran might not even cross the lifetime collection of Vikram’s previous film Thangalaan, which itself was a box office failure. Thangalaan ended its run at ₹71.45 crores worldwide, and now, it looks like Veera Dheera Sooran will fall short of even that number.
This is disappointing for fans who were hoping for a strong comeback from the actor.
Not a Profitable Venture
The movie is reportedly made on a budget of ₹55 crores. To be considered a success, it needed to earn at least ₹55 crores net in India. However, with just ₹41.78 crores net, the film is unlikely to reach the breakeven point. That means Veera Dheera Sooran is a losing affair at the Indian box office.
Final Verdict
Despite Chiyaan Vikram’s strong screen presence and a decent start, Veera Dheera Sooran has not lived up to expectations. With collections slowing down and competition heating up, the movie is likely to end below the 70-crore mark worldwide.
Unless something unexpected happens, this action thriller will go down as another underwhelming outing in Chiyaan Vikram’s recent filmography.
