The issue became more serious when Bhuwan Chandra Uniyal, a senior priest at Badrinath Dham, responded to the claim. He clearly said that there is no temple named after Urvashi Rautela near Badrinath. The priest explained that the temple Urvashi was talking about is actually an ancient shrine of Goddess Sati. It is one of the 108 Shaktipeeths in Hinduism and holds great religious and cultural value.

He also called Urvashi’s statement misleading and disrespectful, adding that such holy places should not be used for publicity or false claims.

Urvashi’s Team Issues Clarification

As the backlash continued to grow, Urvashi Rautela’s team released an official statement on April 19, 2025. They said that Urvashi never claimed the temple was “hers” but mentioned that she had heard of a temple in her name in Uttarakhand. They also claimed that her words were twisted and wrongly shared by some media outlets and bloggers.

The team mentioned that Urvashi had once been nicknamed “Damdami Mai” by students of Delhi University, and this could be linked to the confusion. They asked for legal action against those spreading false news and urged people to check the facts before criticizing anyone.
