Actress Triptii Dimri has officially joined the upcoming pan-India film Spirit, replacing Deepika Padukone as the female lead. The movie stars Prabhas and is directed by Animal fame Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The announcement was made by T-Series, the film’s production house, on Instagram, creating a buzz among fans.
In their post, T-Series wrote, “A powerful new on-screen pairing is here! We’re thrilled to welcome @tripti_dimri on board for our ambitious pan-world film #SPIRIT, starring @actorprabhas and directed by @sandeepreddy.vanga. Produced by #BhushanKumar, #SandeepReddyVanga and @pranayreddyvanga.”
This marks a major moment for Triptii Dimri, who previously worked with Vanga in the 2023 hit Animal, where she received a lot of love from fans. Now, she is set to star opposite Prabhas in what’s expected to be one of the biggest movies of 2025. The shooting for Spirit will begin next year.
Why Did Deepika Padukone Leave Spirit?
Deepika Padukone was the original choice for the female lead in Spirit. The news of her involvement had excited fans as it would have been her first film with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and her second film with Prabhas after Kalki 2898 AD, which released in 2024.
However, Deepika later walked away from the project. According to reports by Jagran English, the reason for her exit was a series of demands that the filmmakers could not agree to. These included an eight-hour workday, a ₹20 crore fee, a share in the film’s profits, and her decision not to dub her lines in Telugu.
A source shared that Deepika’s request for shorter working hours was understandable, especially as she recently became a mother. In an interview, she also mentioned her need to balance work with motherhood. Though fans were disappointed by her decision to leave, it opened the door for Triptii Dimri to step in.
Triptii Dimri’s Exciting New Role in Spirit
Sandeep Reddy Vanga confirmed Triptii’s casting on social media by posting, “The female lead for my film is now official :-)”. Triptii responded with a heartfelt message on Instagram, saying, “Still sinking in…. So grateful to be trusted with this journey. Thank you @sandeepreddy.vanga ..honoured to be a part of your vision.”
Fans quickly flooded social media with positive messages, saying they were excited to see Triptii opposite Prabhas. This pairing is fresh and new, adding to the curiosity and excitement around the film.
