The Diplomat Movie Story
The Diplomat is based on a true story set in 2017, focusing on Uzma Ahmed (played by Sadia Khateeb), an Indian woman tricked by a Pakistani man named Tahir (Jagjeet Sandhu). She meets him during a trip to Malaysia, where he appears to be charming. However, once she crosses the Wagah border to meet him in Pakistan, she realizes the horrifying truth.
Tahir turns out to be an abusive criminal who forces her to marry him. Uzma is subjected to physical abuse, sexual assault, and emotional torture in Buner, a remote and dangerous part of Pakistan. She is trapped in a nightmare but desperately seeks a way to escape.
A small chance arises when she manages to call her Malaysian friends, who advise her to seek help from the Indian Embassy. Using her wit, she tricks Tahir and his accomplice Bashir (Muzamil Bhawani) and reaches the embassy. This is where she meets Deputy Commissioner J.P. Singh (John Abraham), who takes up her case despite significant political and legal challenges. He seeks help from India’s Minister for External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj (Revathy), to bring Uzma home. The film follows their intense legal and diplomatic struggle to get Uzma safely back to India.
