Thalapathy Vijay has once again proven his star power, and this time, even before the release of his much-awaited final film, Jana Nayagan! His 2005 romantic drama Sachein has taken the box office by storm with its re-release and is already breaking records across the board.

Sachein Roars at the Box Office

Sachein, which originally released in 2005, is now running successfully in theaters with its re-release, and fans are showing massive support. The film saw an incredible response in advance bookings, especially on BookMyShow (BMS), hinting at the kind of box office success it was going to achieve. The excitement was sky-high, and the results clearly show it!

Beats All Re-Releases Except Ghilli

Interestingly, Vijay has now achieved a rare feat with Sachein’s re-release. It has already surpassed the lifetime box office collections of every other Tamil re-release in history—except Ghilli, which also stars Vijay. Ghilli made history earlier, collecting ₹32.50 crore worldwide during its re-release. Now, Sachein has become the second highest-grossing Tamil re-release ever!

Sachein Re-Release Day 1 Collection

Sachein earned a massive ₹10 crore on its opening day at the box office. This is about 25% more than Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly, which earned around ₹8 crore on its re-release day. With this number, Sachein not only had the biggest opening ever for a Tamil re-release but also quickly climbed to the top of the all-time list.

Top 10 Highest-Grossing Tamil Re-Releases (Worldwide)

Let’s take a look at the current list of top-performing Tamil and Telugu re-releases at the global box office:

  1. Ghilli – ₹32.50 crore
  2. Sachein – ₹10 crore (and growing!)
  3. Murari – ₹8.90 crore
  4. Gabbar Singh – ₹8.01 crore
  5. Kushi – ₹7.46 crore
  6. Business Man – ₹5.85 crore
  7. Simhadri – ₹4.60 crore
  8. Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi – ₹3.52 crore
  9. Surya Son Of Krishnan – ₹3.40 crore
  10. Indra – ₹3.38 crore

With these numbers, Vijay dominates the chart, with both the first and second positions belonging to his films.

Sachein Ticket Sales on BookMyShow

Sachein is also performing exceptionally well in ticket sales on BookMyShow. Fans have been grabbing tickets non-stop, and it has officially crossed 150,000 tickets sold, making it only the 12th Tamil film re-release to achieve this milestone.

Here’s a breakdown of the BMS ticket sales:

  • Pre-Sales: 72.62K tickets
  • April 18: 49.78K tickets
  • April 19: 31.8K tickets (till 11 PM)
  • Total (estimated): 154.2K tickets

This tremendous response shows just how much love fans still have for Sachein and Thalapathy Vijay. With more shows being added and the weekend boost, there’s a good chance the film might even challenge Ghilli’s historic numbers in the coming days!

Final Thoughts

Even after nearly two decades, Vijay’s charm continues to fill theaters. The re-release of Sachein has turned into a celebration for fans and a major success story at the box office. With Jana Nayagan coming soon, the buzz around Vijay is only getting stronger. If Sachein keeps this pace, it might soon rewrite the record books once again.
