Sunny Deol is back with a bang! His latest action-packed film Jaat has finally hit theatres, and all eyes are on its performance at the Indian box office. With the benefit of the Mahavir Jayanti holiday, the movie is set for a powerful opening. While it might not break the record set by Gadar 2, it’s still showing strong early signs, especially in terms of advance bookings and show count.
Jaat’s Advance Booking Report – A Strong Start Despite Limited Time
Unlike many big Bollywood releases that open bookings a week in advance, Jaat had very little time to gather momentum in pre-sales. In fact, the film had just one full day of advance booking, which makes its performance even more impressive.
As per the final numbers, Jaat sold tickets worth ₹2.59 crore gross on day 1 across India. This amount does not include blocked seats, making it a clean and strong figure. In total, the film sold over 1.14 lakh tickets, which is an excellent achievement considering the short window.
High Show Count Boosts Box Office Chances
The good news doesn’t stop at bookings. Jaat has been released with a massive show count of over 14,100 shows across India. This wide release gives it a huge edge. Even if the film sees average occupancy, it has enough screens and time slots to collect solid numbers throughout the day.
What’s more, the failure of Salman Khan’s Sikandar has worked in Sunny Deol’s favor. With Sikandar underperforming, many screens and audiences have shifted focus to Jaat.
Delhi and Maharashtra Lead in Advance Booking
Looking at state-wise performance, Delhi leads the way with ₹62 lakh gross from advance ticket sales, followed closely by Maharashtra, which pulled in ₹43 lakh gross. Among cities, Delhi-NCR is ruling the charts with bookings worth ₹61 lakh gross, while Mumbai follows with ₹24 lakh gross.
Jaat Beats Gadar’s Opening Already!
For those wondering how Jaat compares to Sunny Deol’s legendary blockbuster Gadar (2001), here’s a surprising fact — Jaat has already beaten Gadar in day 1 advance booking! Gadar opened to a ₹1.40 crore net, whereas Jaat has clocked in ₹2.20 crore net in pre-sales alone. That’s a massive 57.14% jump, proving that Sunny Deol’s fanbase is still rock solid.

What to Expect from Day 1?
Given the strong advance booking, wide release, and holiday boost, Jaat is expected to cross the double-digit mark (₹10 crore+) at the Indian box office on its opening day. The film is likely to do especially well in mass belts and single screens, where Sunny’s loyal audience base remains strong.
With word-of-mouth and spot bookings playing a crucial role, Jaat could emerge as one of the top openers of 2025. It might fall short of Gadar 2’s historic opening, but it’s clearly off to a great start and shows potential to grow further over the weekend.
