Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty have been friends for a long time. They’ve worked together in many hit films like Pehchaan (1993), Mohra (1994), and the iconic comedy Hera Pheri (2000). Fans have always loved their on-screen chemistry, but not many know the emotional story behind their first meeting.
In a recent interview with Radio Nasha, Suniel Shetty shared a touching memory of the day he met Akshay Kumar for the first time. Suniel revealed that Akshay reminded him of someone very special – his late cousin, Ullaas.
Suniel said, “I can never forget that first meeting. I had a cousin named Ullaas. He was the first person who sent my photos to modeling agencies, and that’s how I got my first modeling job. Sadly, I had just lost him in a car accident. He was only 27 or 28 years old.”
When he met Akshay, Suniel noticed a strong resemblance between Akshay and his cousin. “The moment I saw Akshay, I felt he looked just like Ullaas. He had the same body language, was clean-shaven, tall, and very good-looking,” Suniel said.
He even told Akshay about it right away. “The first thing I said to him was, ‘You remind me of my brother whom I lost in an accident.’ I also told him, ‘It’s scary for me to work with you every day because every time I see you, I’ll think of him.’”
Despite this emotional connection, Suniel and Akshay became great friends on and off the set. Suniel added, “That’s exactly what happened. Whenever we had a long night shoot, Akshay always kept the mood light and fun. There is no one more fun-loving than Akshay Kumar. He always brings joy to the set.”
Upcoming Films of Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty
On the work front, Suniel Shetty is all set to appear in an action-packed film titled Kesari Veer. The film also stars Vivek Oberoi and Sooraj Pancholi, and it is scheduled to hit theatres on May 23.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar has a busy schedule ahead. He will next be seen in Housefull 5, the latest part of the popular comedy franchise. He also has two more big films in the pipeline – Welcome To The Jungle and the much-awaited Hera Pheri 3, which fans have been eagerly waiting for.
Their fans are excited to see them reunite on screen again, especially in Hera Pheri 3, which will bring back the classic trio of Akshay, Suniel, and Paresh Rawal.
