In a recent interview with Filmfare, Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty opened up about his upcoming film Kesari Veer and also shared his thoughts on the recent India-Pakistan conflict. Shetty, who is known for his action-packed roles and patriotic films, expressed deep emotions when talking about the film and the nationalistic spirit in India.
Speaking about Kesari Veer, Suniel Shetty said the movie is not just about action—it’s about emotion and sacrifice. The film tells the story of a group of 100 brave Indian soldiers who take on thousands of enemies. “It’s not just action. It’s emotion. It’s war. It’s about a hundred people fighting against thousands. We knew we might die, we knew we’d probably lose each other, but we stood firm. We didn’t let the enemy win,” he said passionately.
Shetty admitted that working on patriotic films brings out strong emotions in him. “Something happens to me when it’s about our country and culture. I go bananas in the head,” he added. His powerful performance in Kesari Veer reflects this emotional intensity, especially during the war scenes.
While discussing the film, Shetty also commented on the real-life India-Pakistan war that started after the attack in Pahalgam. He praised India’s defense forces for responding strongly but carefully. “Why was there a ceasefire? Because we targeted the right places. We didn’t harm civilians. That’s the beauty of India—we fight with honor,” he explained. He added that when you see the discipline and focus of the Indian military, it inspires you to give your best in everything.
Kesari Veer also stars Sooraj Pancholi and Akanksha Sharma, and it hit theatres on May 23, 2025. Despite high expectations, the film received mixed reviews. Filmfare gave it a 2.5-star rating. The review mentioned that while Suniel Shetty delivered a solid performance, the film fell short in other areas.
“Suniel Shetty brings all his experience to the screen, but even his powerful presence isn’t enough to save the movie,” the review said. Interestingly, actor Vivek Oberoi, who plays a Muslim invader in the film, was noted for bringing a humorous touch to his role. “He seems to be enjoying himself, knowing he’s not responsible for the movie’s success or failure,” the review added.
The final verdict? Kesari Veer had great potential but was let down by weak writing, average direction, and poor editing. It’s a missed opportunity for what could have been a powerful patriotic film.
Even so, fans of Suniel Shetty might still find something to enjoy, especially in the intense war scenes and the film’s strong patriotic message.
