Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam is in the middle of a controversy after a recent concert in Bengaluru. His comments during the event have upset many people in Karnataka, especially those in the Kannada film industry. As a result, a song sung by him has been removed from the upcoming Kannada movie Kuladalli Keelyavudo.
What Happened?
The incident took place during Sonu Nigam’s live concert in Bengaluru. During the show, a student in the crowd repeatedly requested him to sing a Kannada song. Instead of honoring the request, Sonu made a comment that many people found disrespectful. He said, “This is why the Pahalgam incident happened,” which sparked outrage online. The clip of the incident went viral on social media, with many Kannadigas expressing their anger.
Kannada Film Industry Reacts
The Kannada Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) responded quickly. They urged producers and musicians to stop working with Sonu Nigam in the future. Soon after, the makers of the film Kuladalli Keelyavudo announced that they had removed the song Manasu Haadtade, which was sung by Sonu, from the movie.
The production team shared a statement saying, “Sonu Nigam is a great singer, but we were deeply hurt by his comments about Kannada. We cannot accept this kind of insult to our language and culture, so we have decided to remove the song.”
Song to Be Re-Recorded
The song Manasu Haadtade had become quite popular after its release a month ago. It was composed by Manomurthy, with lyrics written by Yogaraj Bhat. The film is directed by K Ramnarayan and produced by Santosh Kumar. Though the song is still available on Sonu Nigam’s official YouTube channel, it will not be part of the final film. The team has brought in singer Chethan to re-record the track with new vocals.
Producer Breaks Ties with Sonu
Producer Santosh Kumar confirmed that he would not be working with Sonu Nigam again. He stated, “We respect talent, but we respect our language and culture more. We’ve decided not to collaborate with Sonu in any future projects.”
Sonu Nigam Issues Apology
After the backlash, Sonu Nigam posted an apology on Instagram. He wrote, “Sorry Karnataka. My love for you is bigger than my pride. Love you always.” However, his apology has not calmed the situation. Many people in the Kannada film industry and among the public continue to express their disappointment.
Conclusion
The controversy has left a strong impact on Sonu Nigam’s connection with the Kannada film world. Even though he apologized, the damage appears to be done. The decision to remove his song from Kuladalli Keelyavudo shows how serious the industry is about respecting Kannada culture and language.
