Salman Khan’s latest action film Sikandar has suffered a major loss before it could make a mark at the box office. The movie, directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment (NGE), was leaked online a day before its Eid 2025 release. According to reports, this piracy incident caused an estimated loss of ₹91 crore.
Despite having a strong cast including Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, Sikandar failed to meet box office expectations. The film only collected around ₹100 crore in India and ₹175 crore worldwide, which is far below what the makers had hoped for. Critics gave mixed to poor reviews, but that wasn’t the only problem the film faced.
As per Bollywood Hungama, the full HD pirated version of Sikandar was leaked online through popular piracy websites like Tamilrockers, Movierulz, and Filmyzilla. Shockingly, the leak happened even before the movie was officially released in theatres.
Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment has now ordered a full investigation into the leak. The audit, reportedly handled by Ernst & Young, used various tools to measure the impact of piracy. These tools tracked online downloads, estimated how many people watched the pirated version, and compared it with expected ticket sales. Based on this analysis, the estimated damage to the film’s revenue is said to be ₹91 crore.
A source close to the film’s production revealed, “This wasn’t just a low-quality leak. The pirated version was high-definition and even included some scenes that didn’t make it to the final movie. Some VFX scenes were also incomplete.”
Because of the huge financial hit, the production house is now planning to file an insurance claim. Many big-budget films today include piracy insurance, and Sikandar was one of them. If the claim goes through, it could become one of the biggest piracy-related claims in Bollywood’s history.
The Sikandar leak has become a serious reminder of how piracy can damage even films with major stars and high budgets. The movie had the potential to do well, especially during the Eid holiday, but piracy played a huge role in its downfall.
Despite the setback, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment is moving ahead with its other projects. Housefull 5 has recently hit theatres, and Baaghi 4 is scheduled for a September 2025 release.
As the film industry continues to battle piracy, the Sikandar case will likely be studied for years to come. It highlights the importance of strong digital security and timely legal action to protect film content before release.
