After the disappointing performance of Tiger 3, fans were hoping for Salman Khan to make a solid comeback with Sikandar. The film, however, failed to live up to the hype and turned out to be a huge flop at the box office. Despite being one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases, Sikandar couldn’t deliver the magic fans expected, both critically and commercially.

Poor Start and Negative Response

Sikandar was a big-budget action drama that brought together superstar Salman Khan and well-known director AR Murugadoss for the first time. Murugadoss is known for giving powerful films like Ghajini (with Aamir Khan) and Holiday (with Akshay Kumar), so there was a lot of excitement to see what he would do with Salman. Unfortunately, the film didn’t click with audiences.

Right from the first day, the movie failed to impress. Critics gave mostly negative reviews, calling the film dull and unexciting. Even the general audience didn’t find it entertaining, and word-of-mouth turned out to be quite poor. Many viewers criticized Salman Khan for looking tired and uninterested in the film. The lack of engaging content led to a sharp drop in collections after the first weekend.

Box Office Performance in India

Despite a massive budget of ₹200 crores, Sikandar opened at ₹30.06 crores on its first day—an average number for a Salman Khan release. There was some hope when the film managed to earn ₹115 crores net in India during its first week, but it couldn’t maintain momentum.

The film continued to lose steam in the following weeks. With new releases like Raid 2 hitting the theatres, Sikandar was removed from most cinema halls. After more than a month in theatres, it wrapped up its run in India with a net collection of ₹129.95 crores and a gross of ₹153.34 crores.

According to Koimoi’s box office verdict, Sikandar was a losing affair, failing to recover its budget. This marks Salman Khan’s fourth straight box office failure after Antim, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, and Tiger 3.

Worldwide Box Office Collection

Sikandar didn’t perform well in the overseas market either. It collected just ₹58 crores gross outside India. Adding both Indian and overseas numbers, the film’s total worldwide collection stood at ₹211.34 crores gross.

Here’s a quick breakdown of Sikandar’s box office collection:

  • India Net: ₹129.95 crores
  • India Gross: ₹153.34 crores
  • Overseas Gross: ₹58 crores
  • Worldwide Gross Total: ₹211.34 crores

Despite high expectations and a big production, Sikandar ended its theatrical journey as a flop. This result will surely be a wake-up call for the superstar and his team as fans continue to wait for his much-needed blockbuster comeback.
