The wait is finally over! In less than 24 hours, Salman Khan’s much-anticipated film Sikandar will hit the big screens. With the Indian box office evolving and films like Jawan, Stree 2, and Chhaava setting new benchmarks, expectations for this action-packed drama are sky-high. However, despite the excitement, Sikandar is heading for a lower-than-expected opening day collection. Let’s take a closer look at its box office prospects.

Disappointing Promotions

The collaboration between Salman Khan and renowned director A.R. Murugadoss had generated immense curiosity. The announcement teaser successfully built hype, making fans eager for more. However, the rest of the promotional material, including songs and trailers, failed to maintain the momentum.

While the songs gained decent traction, none of them became chartbusters. The trailer, although well-edited, didn’t give the film the much-needed boost. Overall, except for the initial teaser, the film’s marketing strategy has been underwhelming, which may have impacted its pre-release buzz.

Advance Booking Performance

Comparing Sikandar with Salman Khan’s last major release, Tiger 3, highlights a significant gap in advance booking numbers. Tiger 3 had strong pre-sales, collecting over ₹20 crore in advance bookings, thanks to the popularity of the Tiger franchise and the hype created by Pathaan.

In contrast, Sikandar lacks a franchise connection and solely relies on Salman Khan’s stardom and Murugadoss’ reputation. As a result, its advance bookings are expected to wrap up below ₹10 crore, likely falling within the ₹6-8 crore range. While this figure is decent in isolation, it feels underwhelming for a film with a massive budget of ₹200 crore. Given the current box office trends, advance booking numbers are a key indicator of a film’s hype, and unfortunately, Sikandar doesn’t seem to be in the strongest position.

Day 1 Box Office Prediction

Despite the concerns over advance bookings, Sikandar has some factors working in its favor. One major advantage is its Sunday release. Salman Khan’s films are known for strong walk-in audiences, especially in smaller cities (B and C centers). This means that the film can benefit from solid on-the-spot ticket sales. Additionally, with no major competition at the box office, Sikandar will enjoy a massive screen count of around 18,000 to 20,000 shows nationwide.

Taking all factors into account, Sikandar is expected to earn around ₹34-38 crore net in India on its opening day. While this is a good number, it falls short of expectations, especially considering recent Bollywood blockbusters. Initially, the film was anticipated to surpass Tiger 3’s opening day collection of ₹44.50 crore, making this prediction somewhat disappointing for Salman Khan fans.

Final Thoughts

While Sikandar is set for a strong opening, its performance is below initial expectations. The film’s ultimate success will depend on audience word-of-mouth and how it holds up in the coming days. If it manages to impress viewers, it could still become a major hit. For now, all eyes are on the grand release to see how Salman Khan’s action-packed entertainer performs at the box office.
