
In a heartfelt conversation with Filmfare, actress Shruti Haasan spoke about a touching memory she has of the late legendary actress Sridevi. During a segment called In The Ring With Filmfare, Shruti remembered the warmth and purity that Sridevi always carried with her.
Shruti described Sridevi as someone who was “peculiarly innocent” and “pure from the inside.” She said, “The way she talked about stories was so special. She always had this innocent and beautiful energy that stayed with her till the very end.”
One of Shruti’s most emotional memories of Sridevi came during the filming of the movie Puli. Shruti’s father, famous actor Kamal Haasan, had sent her a nostalgic photo to share with Sridevi. The photo was of Sridevi sitting on her mother’s lap, along with Kamal Haasan.
Shruti recalled, “Papa said, ‘Send her this picture, she’ll love it.’ So I sent it to her. She was in full makeup for Puli, which took a lot of time and effort, but within seconds of seeing the picture, she was in tears. She said, ‘Can I talk to him? I want to talk about this memory.’ That moment really stayed with me.”
Shruti also talked about Sridevi’s strong presence on film sets. She said, “When she walked in, it felt like a queen had arrived. She was so powerful and graceful.” Sridevi, who starred in films like Laadla, English Vinglish, and Mom, passed away in February 2018 at the age of 54. Her death was a huge loss to Indian cinema.
Aside from remembering Sridevi, Shruti Haasan also shared updates about her exciting film career. She is currently working on some big projects in both Indian and international cinema.
