Cricket and Bollywood have always had a strong connection, and one of the best examples of this is the friendship between superstar Shah Rukh Khan and cricket legend Virat Kohli. Both are top stars in their fields and share a warm and respectful bond.
In a recent interview with Star Sports (as shared by NDTV), Shah Rukh Khan talked about his special connection with Virat Kohli. He even called Virat “our son-in-law,” saying that he is like a part of the Bollywood family. Shah Rukh said, “I spent a lot of time with him; I just love him. We say that he is our son-in-law; he is our fraternity’s (Bollywood) ‘damaad.’ I have known him the most compared to other players. I have known Virat and Anushka for a long time, and spent a lot of time with them.”
Shah Rukh further explained that he first met Virat during the early days of his relationship with actress Anushka Sharma. “I have known him since his dating period was going on and I was shooting a film with Anushka. So he spent many days with us and became very friendly,” Shah Rukh said.
The actor also shared a funny story about teaching Virat Kohli the famous dance step from the title track of his hit film Pathaan. Shah Rukh revealed that Virat tried to do the dance during a match with fellow cricketer Ravindra Jadeja. “I taught him the Pathaan movie title song dance steps. I saw him in one of the India matches; he tried to dance with Ravindra Jadeja. They were trying to do that dance step, but I felt bad because they were doing it so badly,” Shah Rukh joked.
He added, “I told them, let me teach you the correct steps so that next time, during the World Cup or any other big match, when you dance, you’ll at least call me and ask how to do it properly.”
For those who may not know, Anushka Sharma made her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the 2008 film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Since then, the two have starred in several movies together, including Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Jab Harry Met Sejal, Zero, and a cameo together in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
Anushka and Virat began dating during the peak of her acting career. They tied the knot in December 2017 in a private ceremony in Tuscany, Italy. Today, they are proud parents of two children—daughter Vamika and son Akaay Kohli.
The bond between Shah Rukh Khan and Virat Kohli is a beautiful example of how cricket and cinema can bring people together. Whether it’s sharing dance steps or calling each other family, their friendship is loved by fans from both worlds.
