Bollywood superstars Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan first appeared together in the 1995 blockbuster Karan Arjun, directed by Rakesh Roshan. Their on-screen chemistry as brothers won hearts, but behind the scenes, the director had a tough time managing these two mischievous actors. In the Netflix documentary The Roshans, Rakesh Roshan and other industry insiders revealed how the two stars created chaos during the film’s shoot.

Rakesh Roshan Struggled to Control Salman & Shah Rukh
In a recently shared Netflix clip, Rakesh Roshan recalled how Salman and Shah Rukh would lose interest during the shoot. He said, “When a shot was ready, even though the sun was setting, they wouldn’t come on time. They’d show up at the last moment, and we had to rush the shot.”

Veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, who was also part of Karan Arjun, confirmed the director’s struggles. He revealed, “They tormented him. They mocked him or wouldn’t cooperate with him.”

Shah Rukh Khan Admits to Being a Trouble Maker
Shah Rukh Khan, who appeared in the documentary, laughed while reminiscing about the filming experience. He admitted, “Yes, we troubled him a lot because both of us were naughty troublemakers. Pinkie ji (Rakesh Roshan’s wife) scolded me a lot, saying, ‘You are troubling Guddu (Rakesh Roshan) too much. I didn’t expect this from you.’”

SRK added that between the two, he seemed better behaved, at least outwardly. “I used to say, ‘I didn’t do anything. It’s all Salman’s fault.’ We were like two young kids troubling a father figure.”

The Director Had to Wake Them Up for Shoots
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Rakesh Roshan shared more details about the struggles he faced. “They were young and full of mischief. My job was to wake them up early in the morning. At 6 AM, I would go to wake Shah Rukh, and he would say, ‘Sir, let me sleep a little more.’”

The situation was no different with Salman. “When I went to wake Salman, he would turn away, put a pillow over his head, and say, ‘Sir, why have you come back? I will be there by 9 AM.’”

Conclusion
Despite their playful antics, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan delivered stellar performances in Karan Arjun, making it one of Bollywood’s most iconic films. While Rakesh Roshan faced many challenges, the film’s success proved that all the effort was worth it. Fans continue to cherish the movie, and these behind-the-scenes stories only add to its legendary status.
