Michael B. Jordan’s horror film Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler, continues to impress at the box office. On its fourth Friday, the movie earned a strong $6.5 million in North America. It’s now crossed its second major box office milestone and is well on its way to becoming one of the biggest horror hits of all time.

Sinners has now passed Oppenheimer’s fourth Friday earnings of $5.1 million and even beat Joker, which made $5.5 million on the same day in its run. With these new numbers, Sinners now holds the second-highest 4th Friday for an R-rated movie ever—just behind Deadpool & Wolverine, which earned $8.2 million.

The film, which hit theaters on April 18, is set in the 1930s Mississippi Delta. Michael B. Jordan plays twin brothers who return to their hometown and face a dark supernatural force. The movie features a star-studded cast, including Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and Delroy Lindo.

Despite being in its fourth week, Sinners only dropped 32.2% in earnings compared to the previous Friday, which is considered a very strong hold for a horror movie. Because of its growing popularity, theaters across the country added 155 more screens to meet audience demand.

As of now, the movie has made a total of $199.8 million in North America. It officially passed the $200 million mark on Saturday, but the updated numbers haven’t been released yet. Once confirmed, Sinners will become only the sixth horror film in history to make over $200 million domestically.

Looking ahead, Sinners is expected to make between $22 million and $26 million over its fourth weekend. It is on track to surpass IT: Chapter Two‘s domestic total of $211.5 million, which would make it the fifth highest-grossing horror movie ever in North America.

On the global front, the film has already made $65 million internationally, pushing its worldwide total to $264.83 million. This puts Sinners as the third highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2025 so far.

Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan have delivered a unique and gripping horror story that is clearly connecting with audiences. With strong word-of-mouth, a talented cast, and expanding theater presence, Sinners is not slowing down anytime soon.

Fans and box office experts alike are eager to see how far this original horror movie can go in the coming weeks.
