Rishi Kapoor, one of the most iconic Bollywood actors, was known for his charm, honesty, and unmatched acting talent. While he gave the Indian film industry many memorable performances, there’s a lesser-known fact that surprises many — Rishi Kapoor once predicted his own death.

In 2018, the Kapoor family faced a major shock when Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with leukemia. He traveled to New York for cancer treatment, and despite the tough phase, there were moments of warmth and love. Celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Shah Rukh Khan visited him, showing how loved and respected he was in the industry.

After a year of treatment, the Bollywood legend returned to India in September 2019. Fans hoped he had recovered, but sadly, his cancer relapsed. On April 30, 2020, Rishi Kapoor passed away in Mumbai. His funeral was attended by close family and friends, though it was limited due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

Interestingly, during a 2016 interview while promoting the film Kapoor & Sons, Rishi was asked how he imagined himself at age 90. His response now feels haunting. He said, “With my lifestyle, I won’t live that long. But people say if I do, I’ll look like Dadu, my character in the film. I just hope I don’t behave like him—he was a spoiled kid.”

This light-hearted comment now feels like a strange prediction that came true.

Rishi Kapoor’s last film was Sharmaji Namkeen, which was released after his death. Actor Paresh Rawal helped complete the film, and it served as a heartfelt farewell to the star. Fans loved the movie and praised his final performance.

Rishi is survived by his wife, Neetu Kapoor, and their two children — Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. In an emotional interview, Rishi once expressed regret about his relationship with his son.

He said, “I was a strict father because I was raised that way. Ranbir once said, ‘My dad is not a friend. He’s my father. I can’t joke with him like I do with my mom.’ That really stayed with me. He is close to Neetu, not me. I regret that.”

Throughout his life, Rishi Kapoor was never afraid to speak his mind. Whether it was interviews, Twitter debates, or bold roles in films, he stayed true to who he was. From his debut in Mera Naam Joker to blockbusters like Bobby, Amar Akbar Anthony, and Agneepath, his contribution to Indian cinema is unforgettable.

Even today, his legacy continues to inspire. Fans remember him not just as an actor, but as a man who lived life on his own terms, made mistakes, and spoke the truth.
