Ridhi Dogra, known for her powerful performances in Jawan, Tiger 3, and the recent film The Sabarmati Report, is one of the most talented actresses in the Indian entertainment industry today. While she is now a known face, not many people know that she once auditioned for a role in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, a Shah Rukh Khan film that marked the debut of actress Anushka Sharma.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Ridhi opened up about the time she auditioned for this famous Yash Raj film. She shared how that experience shaped her as an actor and helped her grow in her career.

Ridhi Dogra on Auditioning for Yash Raj Films

Ridhi shared that she had just started acting when she got to know about auditions happening for a new Yash Raj film. The news was in the newspapers, and since she knew Manish Sharma, who was involved in the casting, she decided to reach out.

She said, “I had just started acting, and there was news that Yash Raj was auditioning for a new movie. I knew Manish—we had danced a lot together at house parties. So, I called him and said I wanted to audition. He told me to come in. It was a great experience that taught me a lot about the industry and myself.”

She Was Given a Scene from DDLJ to Perform

Ridhi said that Manish gave her a scene from the classic movie Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) to perform. It was the popular scene where Shah Rukh Khan’s character asks Kajol if she will marry someone. Ridhi was surprised and said, “I knew that scene by heart! I told Manish I’ve watched it so many times, how can I act it now? But he told me, ‘That’s exactly what you have to do.’”

Although Ridhi gave her best in the audition, she didn’t get the role. However, what happened afterward was very special for her.

Ridhi Received Encouragement from YRF Team

She recalled, “Manish later called me to the office. I thought I didn’t get the part. But then he told me, ‘Ridhi, you’re a good actor. Don’t feel rejected. Aditya Chopra liked your performance. In this industry, everyone has to be their own case study.’ That line stayed with me.”

Ridhi also remembered the moment she saw Aditya Chopra in person just as she left the office. “I saw Aditya Chopra in slow motion and that memory is stuck in my head. That day I decided—I am my own case study.”

From Auditions to Sharing Screen with Shah Rukh Khan

While Ridhi did not get the role in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, she eventually got to work with Shah Rukh Khan years later in Jawan. Life came full circle for her.

Currently, Ridhi Dogra is promoting her latest web series Kull: The Legacy of the Raisingghs, which is now streaming on JioHotstar.
