Rao urged the court to instruct the government to use some of the film’s profits for public welfare, such as building affordable theaters and providing financial support to small filmmakers.
Court’s Response and Legal Proceedings
When the case was presented, the judge questioned the relevance of the PIL, stating that the ticket price hikes and benefit shows had already concluded. However, Rao clarified that his concern was specifically about how the profits generated from the film should be used.
After hearing both sides, the court directed Rao to submit a copy of the Supreme Court ruling he referenced in his petition. The case has now been adjourned for two weeks, giving the petitioner time to provide the necessary legal documents.
