Spirit, the highly awaited film starring Prabhas and directed by Animal fame Sandeep Reddy Vanga, has hit another roadblock. The movie was originally scheduled to start filming in January 2025. However, recent updates reveal that the shoot has been postponed due to Prabhas’ health and other ongoing commitments.
According to OTTplay, Prabhas was injured while filming for his action-packed movie Fauji. Due to the injury, he had to fly to Europe for medical treatment. This has made it impossible for him to allot dates for Spirit at the moment.
On top of that, Prabhas is already busy with other movies. His horror-romantic comedy The Raja Saab is facing production delays. The main reason behind this is the heavy VFX work, which is still incomplete. There are also some financial issues delaying the film further.
Meanwhile, there’s some positive news too. As per TeluguCinema.com, Fauji has now resumed shooting, which shows that Prabhas is slowly recovering and getting back to work. Still, since both Fauji and The Raja Saab are yet to be completed, Prabhas cannot fully focus on Spirit just yet.
Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who gained massive success with his previous hit Animal, is known for being a perfectionist. Reports say that he wants Prabhas to commit a long stretch of uninterrupted dates for Spirit. That’s one of the reasons filming hasn’t begun yet. Sandeep has only directed three movies for theaters so far, but all of them have done very well at the box office, making him one of the most in-demand directors in Indian cinema.
Interestingly, Sandeep Reddy Vanga is also planning Animal Park, the sequel to his hit film Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor. This project was supposed to go on floors in 2026. However, fans are now wondering if the delay in Spirit will also push back Animal Park. If that happens, there’s a risk that Ranbir Kapoor might move on to other projects instead.
Despite all the challenges, Telugu Cinema reports that Prabhas has personally assured Sandeep Reddy Vanga that he will prioritize Spirit. However, he has asked for at least two more months to sort out his current projects and health issues. In the meantime, Sandeep has been busy location scouting in Mexico for Spirit.
Adding to the concerns is Prabhas’ health. Rumors suggest that doctors have advised him to slow down because of recurring knee problems. They have warned him not to overexert, as too much strain on his knees could worsen the issue.
Fans of Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga are eagerly waiting for updates. While the delay is disappointing, it looks like the team is taking steps to ensure the film is made with the right preparation and care.
