Fans of the Hera Pheri franchise were shocked when reports emerged that Paresh Rawal has quit Hera Pheri 3. Now, the veteran actor has finally spoken up about his decision to leave the much-awaited film. Rawal, who played the iconic role of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, said that he no longer felt like a part of the project.
In a recent interview with Mid-Day, Paresh Rawal said, “I know it came as a shock to many. We three—Akshay, Suniel, and I—make a great team with Priyadarshanji directing us. But the truth is, I chose to walk away because I don’t feel like I belong to the film anymore.” He also made it clear that this decision is final and he won’t be returning to the project.
However, this sudden exit has reportedly upset Akshay Kumar, who is also producing Hera Pheri 3. According to a report by Hindustan Times, Akshay Kumar has sent a legal notice to Paresh Rawal. The notice claims that Rawal backed out of the film after signing a contract and even starting the shoot. Sources say that Akshay is seeking compensation for damages caused by Rawal’s sudden exit, which he believes was unprofessional.
Earlier, Rawal had released a statement saying that his decision was not due to creative differences. “I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences. I reiterate that there are no creative disagreements with the filmmaker. I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan, the film director,” he said.
The news of Rawal leaving the film has deeply disappointed fans. His character, Baburao, became a cult favorite after the release of the original Hera Pheri in 2000. His unique comic timing and memorable dialogues made Baburao one of the most loved characters in Bollywood comedy.
Reports also suggest that Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal had already started shooting for the film. Moreover, Rawal was reportedly paid over three times his usual fee for this film. Given this, the filmmakers are now left in a tough spot as they must find a way to continue the movie without one of its core characters.
With Rawal confirming that he is officially out, fans are now wondering what will happen next. Will the makers recast Baburao or introduce a new character altogether? Either way, it’s clear that Hera Pheri 3 won’t be the same without Paresh Rawal’s unforgettable Baburao.
