Veteran Bollywood actress Neetu Kapoor is still one of the most loved stars in the industry. She ruled the silver screen during the 70s and 80s with her memorable performances. However, not many people know that Neetu Kapoor couldn’t complete her higher education because she started acting at a very young age.

In an old episode of Karan Johar’s popular chat show Koffee With Karan Season 1, Neetu Kapoor (then Neetu Singh) shared some interesting and emotional stories from her early married life with late Bollywood legend Rishi Kapoor.

The Jug Jugg Jeeyo actress revealed that she only studied till the 8th grade. She said, “When I got married, I was very naive. Rishi used to use big words while talking. He was very good at playing Scrabble. I wasn’t very educated, I had just completed my 8th standard,” (as reported by BollywoodShaadis).

Neetu Kapoor also talked about how she initially tried to accompany Rishi Kapoor whenever he went out with his friends. But she would often feel left out and bored during those gatherings. She recalled, “He used to go out with his friends and spend time with them. I went along a few times but got bored, so I stopped going. After that, he would come home very late every day.”

She further shared a funny and touching incident from those days. Feeling frustrated and upset with Rishi Kapoor’s late nights, Neetu decided to confront him one day. She said, “One day, I made up my mind to confront him. I was so angry and firm. I opened the door and said, ‘Look…’ but before I could continue, he calmly replied, ‘Listen, I don’t lead my life in duress.’”

Neetu laughed while recalling that moment. She admitted that she didn’t understand what “duress” meant at that time. “After he said that, I forgot all my anger. That night, I pulled out my dictionary to find out what ‘duress’ means,” she added.

Neetu Kapoor’s sweet and honest storytelling won many hearts. It also showed the simple and pure bond she shared with Rishi Kapoor.

For those who don’t know, Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with cancer in 2018. He fought a long and brave battle for two years in New York but sadly passed away in April 2020. Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh got married in January 1980 after dating each other for a few years. Together, they have two children – daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and son Ranbir Kapoor, who is also a successful actor in Bollywood today.

Neetu Kapoor’s journey shows that even though she didn’t get a chance to complete her education, she built a beautiful life and career with her talent, hard work, and positive spirit.
