Tom Cruise’s final Mission: Impossible film, The Final Reckoning, has completed its first week at the Indian box office. The movie released in theatres on May 17, 2025, and is already the 4th highest-grossing film in the Mission: Impossible franchise in India.

The movie, officially titled Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, marks the last time fans will see Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film has received mostly positive reviews, which helped create a strong buzz before release. Fans have shown massive support, making it one of the top-performing Hollywood films of the year in India so far.

Mission: Impossible 8 Day 7 Collection in India

On its 7th day at the box office (May 23), the film earned an estimated ₹4.10 crore. Since it was a regular Friday, a drop in earnings was expected. However, the 14% dip from the previous day has raised some concerns. The movie will need to show strong growth over the weekend to keep its momentum going.

Despite the drop, the film’s first-week total stands at an impressive ₹60.75 crore (net). The gross collection is around ₹71.68 crore. With this pace, the film is now aiming to cross the ₹75 crore milestone during its second weekend in India.

Will MI 8 Become the Biggest Hit in the Franchise?

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One currently holds the record as the highest-grossing film in the series in India, with a total of ₹120 crore. While The Final Reckoning had a strong start, the constant decline in collections could make it difficult to surpass that number.

The next few days are going to be very important. If the film sees a good jump over the weekend, it can still reach its target. But if the current trend continues, it might fall short of becoming the biggest Mission: Impossible movie in India.

About Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

This is the eighth and final installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise. Along with Tom Cruise, the film also stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Czerny, and Angela Bassett. Christopher McQuarrie, who has directed several past MI films, is once again at the helm. He also co-produced the movie with Cruise.

The film was released in India on May 17, 2025, and hit US theatres later on May 23, 2025.

Final Words

Tom Cruise’s final mission as Ethan Hunt has already won hearts across the world. In India, the film has done well in its first week, but all eyes are now on its second weekend. If Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning manages to bring audiences back to theatres, it still has a shot at breaking franchise records.
