The makers of Materialists, starring Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Evans, have just dropped a brand-new trailer that offers a deeper look into the film’s emotionally rich characters and their complicated relationships.
The trailer introduces Lucy (Dakota Johnson), a high-end matchmaker who helps others find love but struggles to connect with her own heart. She’s in a rocky relationship with John (Chris Evans), her current partner, when she meets Henry Castillo (Pedro Pascal), a charming and passionate bachelor. Sparks fly quickly between Lucy and Henry, leading to a whirlwind romance.
But things get complicated when Lucy’s ex-boyfriend reappears, filled with regret and hoping for a second chance. Caught between two very different men, Lucy is forced to face tough choices about love, commitment, and what truly makes her happy.
Directed by Celine Song, known for the critically acclaimed Past Lives, Materialists dives into modern relationships and emotional vulnerability, exploring the fine line between what we want and what we truly need.
The film also features a strong supporting cast, including Zoe Winters, Marin Ireland, Dasha Nekrasova, Louisa Jacobson, and Sawyer Spielberg.
Speaking about her role, Dakota Johnson shared,
“She’s very successful at her job but disconnected from her own feelings. She seems transactional on the outside but actually cares deeply. She’s on a journey to figure out if she should chase what she thinks she wants or fight for what she truly needs.”
Sony Pictures Entertainment India will release Materialists in theaters across India on June 13, 2025.
