Their latest Malayalam action thriller, L2: Empuraan, is setting new records at the box office, not just in Kerala but across India and globally. L2: Empuraan Crosses 50 Lakh Footfalls in Kerala
The latest box office update confirms that L2: Empuraan has crossed 50 lakh+ footfalls in Kerala alone. This is a huge achievement and puts the film in a very elite group. Since 2010, only eight other South Indian films have managed to attract such a large number of viewers in theatres across Kerala.
The last film to achieve this was Fahadh Faasil’s Aavesham (2024). With this, L2: Empuraan becomes the ninth South Indian movie in the past 15 years to cross the 50 lakh footfall mark in Kerala.

Even before reaching this new milestone, L2: Empuraan had already made headlines by recording the highest opening day collection ever in Kerala. The film earned ₹15 crores gross on its first day, beating major blockbusters like:
- Leo – ₹12 crores
- KGF Chapter 2 – ₹7.25 crores
- Beast – ₹6.60 crores
- Pushpa 2 – ₹6.35 crores
This strong opening showed just how excited fans were to see the sequel to Lucifer, and they turned up in huge numbers.
L2: Empuraan Box Office Collection in India
So far, L2: Empuraan has earned an impressive ₹91.09 crores net at the Indian box office in just 12 days. It is now the second highest-grossing Malayalam film in India, behind Manjummel Boys, which collected ₹142 crores in its full run.
