Veteran Bollywood actress Jaya Bachchan is celebrating her 77th birthday today. Over the years, she has won the hearts of millions with her powerful performances and continues to be one of the most respected stars in Indian cinema.

A Remarkable Career in Bollywood

Jaya Bachchan started her acting journey with a supporting role in the Bengali film Mahanagar (1963), directed by the legendary Satyajit Ray. However, it was her role in the Bollywood film Guddi (1971) that marked her official entry into the Hindi film industry. The film, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, showcased her as a simple schoolgirl who is obsessed with cinema. Her natural acting and girl-next-door image instantly won over audiences.

Throughout her career, Jaya Bachchan has delivered several hit films, including Abhimaan, Koshish, Chupke Chupke, Sholay, and Mili. She became known for her strong roles, emotional depth, and screen presence. Despite taking a break from acting after marrying superstar Amitabh Bachchan, she returned to films with powerful performances in movies like Fiza, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Kal Ho Naa Ho.

Jaya Bachchan’s Awards and Achievements

Over the years, Jaya Bachchan has been honored with numerous awards, including eight Filmfare Awards. One of the most special recognitions in her career came when she received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Her acceptance speech at the event touched many hearts.

A Heartfelt Moment with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

One of the most emotional parts of her speech was when she spoke about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. At that time, Aishwarya was not yet married to her son Abhishek Bachchan, but Jaya already considered her part of the family. She said warmly:

“Today I’m going to be a mother-in-law again to a beautiful, lovely girl. She has great values, great dignity, and a lovely smile. I welcome you to the family. I love you.”

Jaya also explained why she chose to accept the award at that moment. She said she had been offered the Lifetime Achievement Award before, but felt the timing wasn’t right. She added, “I thought this would be the right time to accept it.”

She ended her speech with a heartfelt prayer:
“Humko mann ki shakti dena, mann vijay kare. Jhooth se durr rahe aur sachh ka mann bhare.”

This emotional moment brought tears to Aishwarya’s eyes and drew a huge round of applause from the audience. Fans appreciated the genuine bond shared between the two women and called it one of the most touching award show moments.
