The Hera Pheri movie series, known for its hilarious storyline and the amazing chemistry between Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal, has been a favorite among Bollywood comedy lovers for years. However, the upcoming third part of the franchise, Hera Pheri 3, is now facing a major issue—Paresh Rawal has decided to leave the film.
In a recent interview, director Priyadarshan shared his emotional experience after hearing the news. He revealed that Akshay Kumar was deeply hurt by Paresh Rawal’s sudden exit. “Akshay had tears in his eyes when he asked me, ‘Priyan, why is Paresh doing this to us?’” the director said. This came as a big shock since the trio had just reunited to shoot a scene and a teaser for the IPL.
Priyadarshan also expressed his sadness about how Paresh Rawal handled the situation. According to the director, Rawal did not speak to him directly before making the news public. “He could have called me first. We’ve been friends for many years,” Priyadarshan said.
There were rumors that Paresh Rawal left because of creative differences or issues with his role in the film. But Priyadarshan denied all of that. He said, “With me, Akshay has never reduced anyone’s role. He never interferes with the director’s vision.”
After the news broke, Paresh Rawal sent a message to Priyadarshan saying, “Priyan sir, I have nothing against you. I respect you a lot, but I have my own reasons for not doing the film.” Interestingly, Paresh had earlier claimed that the director tried to convince him to stay. However, Priyadarshan said this was not true.
“I didn’t try to stop him because he never told me he was leaving. When I called him, he replied with a text saying, ‘Please don’t call me. This is my decision and it has nothing to do with you.’ He also said we should work together again someday,” Priyadarshan explained.
The Hera Pheri series started in 2000 and continued with Phir Hera Pheri in 2006. Over the years, it has gained a massive fan following and is considered one of the best comedy franchises in Bollywood.
Now, with Paresh Rawal stepping away from Hera Pheri 3, the future of the film is uncertain. There is no confirmed shooting schedule at the moment. However, fans are still hoping that the original trio—Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal—will come together one last time to bring back the magic of Hera Pheri.
