The MonsterVerse, Hollywood’s thrilling shared universe of Godzilla and King Kong, continues to grow bigger and better with every new release. As you can see, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has just edged past Kong: Skull Island, taking the top spot. Not only did it perform well globally, but it also made history in India. The film reportedly earned 100 crore INR in India alone, making it the highest-grossing Warner Bros. movie ever released in the country.
The 2024 film also became the 8th highest-grossing movie of the year, just behind Dune: Part Two, which collected $714.64 million worldwide.
What’s Next for the MonsterVerse?
The MonsterVerse is not slowing down anytime soon! A sequel to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is already in development. The upcoming film will be directed by Grant Sputore and is scheduled to release in 2027.
