Diljit Dosanjh had an incredible year in 2024. Not only did he win hearts in India, but he also made a strong impression internationally. His Dil-Luminati world tour was a huge hit, and he even appeared on the popular American talk show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. On top of that, he delivered standout performances in Bollywood films like Crew and Amar Singh Chamkila, proving that he’s more than just a music icon—he’s a full-blown global superstar.
Diljit started his music career in 2003 with his debut album Ishq Da Uda Ada. Later, in 2010, he made his acting debut as the lead in the Punjabi film Mel Karade Rabba. However, there’s an interesting story behind his actual first film. Before Mel Karade Rabba released, he had already completed shooting for The Lion of Punjab, which eventually came out in 2011. This film gave him his first taste of acting, and according to those who worked with him, it was clear even then that Diljit had big dreams.
In a recent interview with Lallantop, actress Jividha Sharma, who starred alongside Diljit in The Lion of Punjab, opened up about her experience working with him. She revealed that even in his early days, Diljit believed in himself and had a strong vision for his future.
Jividha recalled, “I remember shooting with him. He’s changed a lot now—more mature and experienced—but even back then, you could tell he was special. He worked really hard, and now, his success shows that God also blessed him.”
She also spoke about how dedicated Diljit was during the shoot. Even though it was his first film, he was already quite popular due to his singing career. “He was already a star in Punjab because of his songs. That’s why he got the role. In Punjab, it’s common for singers to transition into acting,” she said.
Jividha shared that while filming during the day, Diljit would travel to different cities at night to perform at stage shows. Despite this hectic schedule, he always showed up fresh and on time for shoots. “I used to ask him, ‘How are you doing this? It’s not humanly possible!’ But he managed it all with energy and focus. That kind of dedication is why he’s at the top today,” she added.
One moment stood out in particular for Jividha. She recalled a day when they were traveling through Mumbai, passing by a large movie hoarding near Andheri West. Seeing the billboard, Diljit confidently said, “One day, I will be up there.” And today, he is.
Diljit’s journey is a true inspiration. From small-town beginnings to international fame, he’s shown what’s possible with hard work, dreams, and determination. Whether it’s music, films, or live performances, Diljit Dosanjh continues to shine and make India proud.
