Florence Pugh Did a Real Stunt Off World’s Second Tallest Building for Marvel’s Thunderbolts.

Florence Pugh is going all out for her role in Marvel’s upcoming movie Thunderbolts. The actress recently revealed that she performed one of the boldest stunts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) all by herself—without using a stunt double.

In the movie, Pugh’s character, Yelena Belova, jumps off the second tallest building in the world. This building is Merdeka 118, located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It stands at an incredible height of 678.9 meters. While many would assume a stunt double was used, Florence insisted on doing the stunt herself.

During an interview, Florence shared how determined she was to make it happen. She even emailed Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to convince him to let her do the jump.

She said, “I got on all the emails. It was in the script, and then slowly as we got closer to shooting, they said they don’t think it’s going to happen because of insurance issues. Obviously, we’re not going to throw me off the second tallest building in the world. I was like, what the f**k? Of course we are! We have to do that.”

The actress didn’t give up. She kept telling Feige how good this would be for the film’s promotion. “I was being a sassy Karen emailing Kevin and saying it’s going to do wonders for the press tour. We have to do this! We’re going to have three women break three different Guinness World Records and we’ll do this and this,” she said.

Eventually, her persistence paid off. Marvel Studios agreed to let her perform the stunt under strict safety conditions. “They’re like, ‘Okay, if you want to fall off the second tallest building, we’ll figure it out for you.’ I don’t mind heights. I quite like them and enjoy them, but that was a whole different ballgame and insane. The mental control I had to do that day was its own superpower,” she added.

In a behind-the-scenes video shared by the makers of Thunderbolts, fans can see Florence getting ready for the big jump. Wearing safety harnesses and standing high up on Merdeka 118, she is all smiles and full of excitement before making the leap.

Florence Pugh plays the role of Yelena Belova, a tough and skilled assassin who was introduced in Black Widow and later appeared in Hawkeye. In Thunderbolts, she joins a team of anti-heroes and former villains for a secret mission.

The film is directed by Jake Schreier and stars Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster. The highly anticipated Marvel movie is set to hit theaters on May 1.

With Florence Pugh performing her own jaw-dropping stunt, Thunderbolts is already creating major buzz. Fans are now even more excited to see what action-packed surprises await when the film arrives on the big screen.
