In the mid-2000s, Emraan Hashmi became one of Bollywood’s most talked-about actors. He earned the nickname “serial kisser” because of his bold roles and passionate on-screen moments. At that time, his movies stood out for their daring storylines and super-hit music. But behind the bold image was an actor who was not afraid to take risks—and someone who would later transform his entire film career.
Over the years, Emraan made a big shift. While he first rose to fame through romantic thrillers, he slowly moved towards more meaningful and socially aware films. Movies like Shanghai and Tigers showed his serious side and proved that he could play deep, layered characters. He worked hard to break out of his earlier image and started choosing scripts that had substance.
Along with changing the kind of films he did, Emraan Hashmi also showed growth in his real-life views, especially when it came to sensitive topics like consent and workplace behavior. A few years ago, during the rise of the #MeToo movement in India, the actor opened up about his thoughts and shared his support.
In an interview and through a public statement reported by Cinema Express, Emraan spoke in favor of the #MeToo movement. He called it a much-needed change in the film industry. The movement gave many women the courage to speak up about harassment and inappropriate behavior. Emraan said it was time that such issues were no longer kept hidden.
He shared that while he fully supports the movement, he also believes in fair investigations. According to him, every allegation should be looked into properly before making any decisions. He emphasized that both support and fairness are important in such situations.
Talking about his own work style, Emraan mentioned how he handles scenes that involve intimacy. He said, “I usually discuss the intimate scenes with my co-stars and the director beforehand. We make sure everyone is comfortable.” He added that if his co-stars ever felt uneasy, they would cancel the scene without a second thought. “We’ve skipped kisses, intimate scenes, or even dance moves if it made someone uncomfortable,” he explained.
The actor also said that men in the industry need to be more careful and respectful. “Women now have a platform to raise their voice, and that’s a powerful change. We need to make sure nothing stays hidden anymore,” he said.
This honest and respectful attitude has earned Emraan a lot of praise. His words highlight how actors can use their influence for good by promoting safe and respectful working environments.
On the work front, Emraan Hashmi was last seen in Ae Watan Mere Watan. His fans are now eagerly waiting for his upcoming film Ground Zero, which is set to release on April 25, 2025.
From being a bold romantic hero to becoming a voice for change, Emraan Hashmi has come a long way. He is proof that stars can grow not just as actors, but also as responsible individuals in society.
