Deepika Padukone is no longer a part of Spirit, the much-awaited action film starring Prabhas and directed by Animal fame Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film had generated a lot of buzz for bringing together two of the biggest stars in Indian cinema—Prabhas and Deepika—for the first time. However, things didn’t go as planned, and Deepika has now walked out of the project.
Why Deepika Padukone Quit Spirit
According to sources close to the production, the decision came after disagreements between Deepika’s team and the film’s director. The issues were mainly about work hours and payment terms. Reports say that Deepika had some strict conditions for taking up the role. She wanted to work only six hours a day and requested extra payment if the shooting went beyond 100 days.
Her team also asked for these conditions to be added to the official contract. But director Sandeep Reddy Vanga reportedly felt that these demands were not practical for a big-budget film like Spirit. He believed that such restrictions would make it difficult to complete the film on time. Even though the director tried to sort things out with the help of the producers, Deepika’s team refused to make any changes.
In the end, the talks fell through, and Sandeep Reddy Vanga decided to move ahead without Deepika. He is now looking for a new actress who can take on the role without such conditions.
New Lead Actress to Be Announced Soon
The makers of Spirit are now in talks with other actresses to replace Deepika Padukone. According to reports from Economic Times, Deepika was being paid around ₹20 crore for the film. Now that she has exited, the makers are looking for a new heroine who might come on board at a more budget-friendly price.
Earlier, some reports had claimed that Deepika left the film due to her pregnancy. But new information suggests that her exit was mainly due to creative differences and scheduling issues.
What’s Next for Deepika and the Film?
Even though Deepika is no longer part of Spirit, she still has a packed schedule. She is working on Kalki 2, the sequel to the upcoming sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD, and is also rumored to be part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next project Love & War, alongside Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
As for Spirit, the film is still moving forward. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who is known for intense hits like Kabir Singh and Animal, the movie is expected to be a massive global release. Fans are now eager to know who will be cast opposite Prabhas.
