Captain America 4 Box office: Brave new world falls short of Ant-Man 3’s collection despite beating many MCU movies.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie Captain America: Brave New World has performed well at the box office by surpassing several Marvel films. However, it seems unlikely that it will be able to beat Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in terms of global earnings.

Ant-Man 3, which came out in February 2023, introduced Jonathan Majors as the powerful villain Kang the Conqueror. Despite the hype and new character, the film didn’t perform well at the box office. It opened to mixed reviews and ended up being one of the lowest-rated MCU movies on Rotten Tomatoes, tied with Eternals. It received a critic score of just 46%, but the audience score was a much better 83%, showing that viewers still enjoyed the movie.

At the domestic box office in the United States, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania earned $214.5 million. Internationally, it collected $261.56 million, making its total global box office collection $476.07 million. However, with a reported production budget of $326.6 million, the film needed to make at least $600 million worldwide to break even. Unfortunately, it fell short of that target.

On the other hand, Captain America: Brave New World—which hit theaters in February 2025—managed to cross the $200 million mark in North America. So far, it has earned $200.18 million in the domestic market. Internationally, the film has collected $214.6 million. This brings its total worldwide box office collection to $414.78 million.

That’s still $61.2 million behind Ant-Man 3, which means Captain America 4 is unlikely to catch up before its run ends. One of the reasons for its slower growth is the movie’s early release on digital platforms. In addition to that, the number of theaters playing the movie has dropped, and competition from newer films has also impacted its performance. Right now, Captain America: Brave New World is running in only 155 theaters across the U.S.

The film stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, who has now taken up the mantle of Captain America. The story follows Sam as he gets caught up in an international crisis and tries to stop a dangerous global plan from unfolding. It’s his first solo outing as the new Captain America after taking over the shield from Steve Rogers.

Although Captain America 4 may not earn as much as Ant-Man 3, it has still managed to perform better than several other recent Marvel releases. The film is now available to stream on various digital platforms, while Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania can be watched on Disney+.

In the end, both films faced their own challenges, and while Captain America: Brave New World made a solid impact, it seems Ant-Man 3 will hold onto its lead at the box office.
