India has seen a major shift in its film industry over the past few years, with the rise of four powerful pan-India stars — Prabhas, Jr NTR, Yash, and Allu Arjun. These stars have won millions of hearts with their blockbuster movies, each creating their own fanbase across the country.
Now, two of these superstars — Jr NTR and Prabhas — are all set to clash at the box office with their upcoming films War 2 and The Raja Saab. Both movies are expected to open big and could become one of the Top 10 Highest Opening Day Grossers in Indian Cinema history!
War 2 Release Date & Expectations
Jr NTR is returning after the massive success of RRR and this time, he teams up with Hrithik Roshan in War 2. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on August 15, 2025, a national holiday, which could help the movie register huge numbers on Day 1.
To enter the Top 10 Indian openers of all time, War 2 will need to collect more than ₹75 crore (India net) on its opening day, which was the collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, currently holding the 10th spot.
But that’s not all! To secure a stronger position, it would have to earn more than ₹83 crore, which is the Day 1 collection of Devara (starring Prabhas). If War 2 settles between ₹75 to ₹82 crore, it will only push Jawan out of the list and take the 10th spot temporarily.
Prabhas’ The Raja Saab – A Bigger Threat?
Enter Prabhas, the box office king known for Baahubali, Saaho, and Salaar. His next film, The Raja Saab, is expected to release on December 5, 2025, which is 112 days after War 2.
If War 2 does not collect more than ₹83 crore and only secures the 10th spot, then it will be in serious danger. That’s because The Raja Saab is expected to have a strong opening and might easily cross that mark — throwing War 2 out of the Top 10!
This means Jr NTR might only enjoy his position in the list for a short time, until Prabhas arrives to take over once again. Unless War 2 crosses ₹83 crore or more, it’s just a matter of time before The Raja Saab dethrones it.
Only Time Will Tell
Both War 2 and The Raja Saab have high expectations, and all eyes will be on their Day 1 collections. But for now, here’s a look at the Top 10 Indian Cinema Opening Day Records (India net collections):
- Pushpa 2 – ₹179.25 crore
- RRR – ₹134 crore
- Baahubali 2: The Conclusion – ₹121 crore
- KGF: Chapter 2 – ₹116 crore
- Kalki 2898 AD – ₹93 crore
- Salaar – ₹92 crore
- Adipurush – ₹89 crore
- Saaho – ₹88 crore
- Devara – ₹83 crore
- Jawan – ₹75 crore
As you can see, the bar is already set very high. Will Jr NTR’s War 2 make it to the list and hold its position? Or will Prabhas’ The Raja Saab steal the show just weeks later?
Only box office numbers will decide who wins this epic clash of titans!
