The Bollywood box office saw the release of three films on Friday — Bhool Chuk Maaf, Kesari Veer, and Kapkapiii. While Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi’s Bhool Chuk Maaf managed to surprise everyone with a decent opening, the other two films completely failed to attract any attention.

Let’s take a detailed look at the day 1 box office collection of Kesari Veer and Kapkapiii, both of which turned out to be disasters from the very first show.

Kesari Veer Day 1 Collection: A Shocking Downfall

Kesari Veer, starring Sooraj Pancholi, Suniel Shetty, and Vivek Oberoi, was expected to make some noise due to its star cast. Unfortunately, the film had almost zero awareness before its release. There was no buzz either online or offline, and as a result, very few people showed up to watch it.

The movie opened with very low occupancy across the country, and most theaters remained empty throughout the day. According to early box office reports, Kesari Veer managed to earn just ₹25 lakh on day 1, which is extremely disappointing.

This is a major setback for Sooraj Pancholi. His debut film Hero, which released in 2015, had collected ₹6.85 crore on its opening day. Compared to that, Kesari Veer has earned 96% less, showing just how badly things have gone downhill for the actor in the last decade.

Kapkapiii Day 1 Collection: Another Horror Comedy Gone Wrong

Kapkapiii, a horror-comedy featuring Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade, also released on the same day. The film reunited the popular Golmaal pair, but even their presence could not help the film.

Like Kesari Veer, Kapkapiii also suffered due to lack of promotion and poor pre-release buzz. Most people didn’t even know it was hitting theaters. As expected, the film received negative reviews from critics and didn’t get any support from the audience either.

Throughout the day, the movie saw dismal footfall, and by the end of day 1, it had collected just ₹26 lakh. While this is slightly more than what Kesari Veer earned, the margin is too small to celebrate. For the makers and distributors, this poor performance is nothing short of a nightmare.

Total Combined Collection: Less Than ₹75 Lakh

Together, Kesari Veer and Kapkapiii have earned just ₹51 lakh (₹25 lakh + ₹26 lakh), making their combined total fall below ₹75 lakh. This makes them some of the worst openers of the year so far.

With such low collections and negative word-of-mouth, the chances of these films picking up over the weekend are slim. Both are likely to end their theatrical run soon, unless something drastic changes.

Final Words

While Bhool Chuk Maaf brought some hope with its surprising performance, the same cannot be said about Kesari Veer and Kapkapiii. Poor marketing, negative reviews, and lack of interest from audiences have resulted in a disastrous start for both films.

Unless these movies see a miracle over the weekend, it’s safe to say that they are on their way out of theaters. For now, they serve as another reminder of how tough the Bollywood box office has become in recent times.
