In a recent interview on In the Ring with Filmfare, Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar spoke honestly about the pressure of being in the public eye, dealing with online trolling, and the responsibilities that come with being a celebrity.

Bhumi, known for her bold choices in films and outspoken nature, shared how she has often faced criticism on social media. From her looks to her opinions, trolls have targeted her many times. However, she has learned to rise above the hate and stay true to herself.

Talking about the doubts people have around celebrities doing social work, Bhumi said, “I understand why people think we do things for publicity. And yes, in a way, we do. I want people to see what I’m doing and feel inspired to do good too.” She believes that if someone has a strong influence, they should use it for the right reasons. “If I have a platform and people listen to me, shouldn’t I use that power to bring about change?” she added.

One of the toughest parts of being in the spotlight is facing body shaming. Bhumi opened up about how she used to react when people would make negative comments about her body. “In the beginning, I used to check who these people were that body-shamed me,” she revealed. “I never wanted to body shame them back, but I could see how unhappy they were to say such things.”

Over time, Bhumi developed a strong sense of self-confidence. She said firmly, “It’s my body. I’ll do what I want. Who are you to tell me what to do?” These powerful words show how far she has come in ignoring negativity and focusing on self-love.

Despite the trolling and judgment, Bhumi stays committed to using her social media to promote real causes. “Whenever we post something, it is always connected to something meaningful,” she explained. For Bhumi, social media is more than just likes and comments — it’s a way to inspire change and speak her truth.

Currently, Bhumi is grabbing attention for her role in the Netflix series The Royals, which started streaming on May 9, 2025. In this romantic comedy, she plays Sophia Shekhar, a hardworking and self-made entrepreneur. Her character’s life changes when she meets a carefree prince, played by Ishaan Khatter. Their chemistry on screen has impressed viewers and added another successful role to Bhumi’s career.

Bhumi Pednekar’s journey shows how she has turned criticism into confidence. Whether it’s speaking out about body image, staying strong in the face of trolls, or playing bold roles in films and series, she continues to inspire her fans. With her honest attitude and fearless personality, Bhumi reminds everyone that being real is the most powerful thing you can be.
