The wait for Bhool Chuk Maaf is finally over! After weeks of uncertainty and last-minute changes, the sci-fi romantic comedy starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi is all set to release in theatres this Friday, May 23. Directed by Karan Sharma and produced by Maddock Films, the movie was earlier caught in controversy, but now it’s ready to entertain audiences on the big screen.
Bhool Chuk Maaf’s Bumpy Road to Release
Originally, the film was scheduled to release on May 9, 2025. However, due to rising tension between India and Pakistan, the makers decided to cancel the theatrical release and opt for a direct OTT release instead. This sudden change upset many, including PVR INOX, one of India’s biggest cinema chains. The company had already started advance booking and filed a legal case against the makers.
The issue reached the Bombay High Court, which later ordered that the film must be released in theatres first. This court decision finally cleared the path for a theatrical release. So now, after all the drama and delays, Bhool Chuk Maaf will hit theatres on May 23.
Low Buzz Around the Film
Despite having a fun and promising trailer, Bhool Chuk Maaf is facing a major challenge—very low buzz. Just a couple of days before its release, there seems to be hardly any excitement among the audience. The earlier interest it generated has faded after the confusion surrounding its release.
