Athiya Shetty, daughter of Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, made her acting debut in 2015 with the film Hero. She later appeared in movies like Mubarakan and Motichoor Chaknachoor. She even did a special dance number in the song Tere Naal Nachna from the film Nawabzaade. However, after that, Athiya took a break from films — and now her father has confirmed that she has quit acting completely.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Suniel Shetty opened up about his daughter’s decision to step away from the film industry. He said that Athiya decided to leave acting on her own terms and has no regrets.
Suniel said, “She told me, ‘Baba, I don’t want to act anymore,’ and she just walked away. I really respect her for that. She didn’t want to continue doing films. After Motichoor Chaknachoor, she got many offers, but she was clear. She said, ‘I don’t want to. I’m happy and comfortable with where I am in life.’”
Athiya Shetty, who tied the knot with Indian cricketer KL Rahul, recently became a mother. The couple welcomed their baby girl, Evaarah, earlier this year. Suniel Shetty also shared how Athiya is now focused on her role as a mother, which he calls the best role of her life.
“She’s playing the most beautiful role now — being a mother,” Suniel added. “That’s the most meaningful film she could be a part of. She’s really enjoying this phase of her life.”
In another interview with Filmfare, Suniel Shetty shared his excitement about becoming a grandfather. He spoke about the values and life lessons he wants to pass on to his granddaughter. He emphasized the importance of staying close to one’s roots and culture.
“I believe in giving cultural values to children,” Suniel said. “I would prefer sending her to a Gurukul instead of a regular school. Athiya and I often talk about this. We want her to grow up in nature, learn to appreciate small things, and live a grounded life.”
Talking about his own spiritual beliefs, the veteran actor said, “I’m still very connected to my roots. Every year, I visit my Kuldevi and Kuldevtas. I do my Naga Pooja and prayers for our ancestors. It keeps me grounded and reminds me where I come from.”
Suniel Shetty’s honest and heartfelt words reveal how his family values peace, simplicity, and culture over fame. Athiya Shetty’s choice to leave Bollywood and focus on her personal life shows that sometimes, happiness lies in doing what feels right for oneself.
