Akshaye Khanna Reveals Why he never worked with father Vinod Khanna again – says even Amitabh bachchan is too powerful on screen.

Akshaye Khanna is often called one of the most underrated actors in Bollywood. Known for his powerful performances in films like Dil Chahta Hai and Drishyam 2, Akshaye has always impressed audiences with his acting talent. Even though he is the son of legendary actor Vinod Khanna, the two only appeared together once on screen.

Akshaye Khanna made his acting debut in the 1997 film Himalay Putra. It was a special film for him, as it also starred his father Vinod Khanna. The movie also featured popular actors like Hema Malini, Johnny Lever, Satish Shah, Danny Denzongpa, and Amrish Puri. Two other newcomers, Anjala Zaveri and Shazia Malik, were also introduced in the film.

Even though Akshaye and Vinod Khanna had a complicated relationship, Akshaye has always respected his father deeply. He admired Vinod not only for his work in films but also for his spiritual journey. However, Akshaye once shared why he never worked with his father again after Himalay Putra.

In a 2008 interview with IANS (as quoted by Hindustan Times), Akshaye revealed that acting with his father was a very intimidating experience. He said, “There are certain people whom you shouldn’t work with. My dad is one of them. Amitabh Bachchan is another. To stand in the same frame as them confidently is impossible.”

He explained that both Vinod Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan have such a powerful screen presence that it’s hard to match their energy. According to Akshaye, “They’ve such an overpowering screen presence. It’s very difficult to match my father on screen. It’s that quality – either you have it, or you don’t. Very frankly, I don’t have it. I just don’t have that kind of presence. There’re some actors who just wash you away on screen. My dad is one of them.”

Vinod Khanna was not only a great actor but also a fashion icon. He had a unique style and charisma that made him stand out. After his passing in 2017 due to cancer, he was honored with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to Indian cinema.

On the work front, Akshaye Khanna was recently seen in the film Chhaava, which also starred Vicky Kaushal. Akshaye played the role of Aurangzeb and received a lot of praise for his performance. The film is currently streaming on Netflix and has been well received by audiences.

Akshaye Khanna continues to choose unique and challenging roles, proving that even without a loud presence, true talent always shines through.
