Ajay Devgn is all set to return as the fearless income tax officer Amay Patnaik in Raid 2, the sequel to the 2018 hit Raid. Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the film will release in theaters on May 1, 2025. With a gripping storyline and intense performances, Raid 2 promises another thrilling battle between justice and corruption.
Raid 3 Already Being Planned
While fans eagerly wait for Raid 2, there’s already some exciting news about the future of the franchise. Bhushan Kumar, head of T-Series, recently revealed in an interview with India Today that Raid 3 is already in the planning stages.
He shared that co-producer Kumar Mangat had the idea for Raid 2 even before the first film was completed. Bhushan added with a smile, “And now when we were making this film, he already narrated the idea for Raid 3.” He confidently said, “Raid 3 to aayegi, surely aayegi,” which means Raid 3 will definitely come.
Bhushan also praised the strong connection audiences have with the franchise. He said that the story of an honest officer fighting corruption continues to inspire people. Interestingly, he also mentioned the film’s music, saying it’s rare for a thriller to have such a strong and emotional soundtrack like Raid 2.
Director Raj Kumar Gupta Shares His Thoughts
While Bhushan Kumar is excited about the future, director Raj Kumar Gupta is taking a more cautious approach. In a chat with Pinkvilla, he said it’s still too early to talk about Raid 3.
“We always aim to tell a strong story. Let’s first see how the audience reacts to Raid 2. Only then will we decide whether to move forward with Raid 3,” said the director.
What is Raid 2 About?
Raid 2 brings a new and powerful enemy for Amay Patnaik – Dada Manohar Bhai, a dangerous and corrupt politician played by Riteish Deshmukh. The film also stars Vaani Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Rajat Kapoor, Supriya Pathak, and Amit Sial.
Inspired by real-life events, the movie adds dramatic twists to bring an intense and thrilling experience. Co-writer Ritesh Shah also shared that Saurabh Shukla’s character, who was seen in the first film, will be making a comeback in this one.
Censor Board Update
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given Raid 2 a ‘UA 7+’ certificate, making it suitable for audiences above the age of 7 with parental guidance. All action scenes have been kept in the movie. However, the CBFC made a small change – the term “Railway Mantri” has been replaced with “Bada Mantri”, and one dialogue of 8 seconds was cut from the beginning of the film.
