Tom Cruise’s action-packed movie Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is getting closer to beating the US box office total of its previous part, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One. Even though the new film dropped a few spots on the box office chart, it still continues to perform well in its fourth weekend.

Mission: Impossible 8 Faces New Competition But Holds Strong

With new movies like How to Train Your Dragon and Materialists hitting theaters, Mission: Impossible 8 lost 554 screens across North America. It also gave up its IMAX screens to these new releases. But thanks to Tom Cruise’s star power, the movie is still drawing big crowds.

Despite these changes, The Final Reckoning remains steady at the domestic (US and Canada) box office and is on its way to becoming another hit in the franchise. The film’s fourth weekend numbers show how strong its fan base still is.

4th Weekend Box Office Collection

According to trade analyst Luiz Fernando on X (formerly Twitter), Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning earned $10.3 million in its fourth weekend at the domestic box office. This is just a 30.4% drop compared to its previous weekend, which is a solid hold for a movie that has been out for almost a month.

As of now, the film has made $166.3 million in North America alone.

Just $6.5 Million Away From Beating Dead Reckoning

In 2023, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One was released during the same time as Barbie and Oppenheimer. Because of that tough competition, it ended its North American run with $172.64 million.

Now, The Final Reckoning is just $6.3 million behind that number. If it continues at the current pace, it will likely cross that mark by the next weekend. When that happens, it will become the 6th highest-grossing film in the Mission: Impossible series in North America.

Mission: Impossible – US Box Office Rankings

Here’s how the movies from the franchise are ranked in terms of their domestic box office earnings:

  2. Mission: Impossible II – $215.40 million
  3. Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol – $209.39 million
  4. Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation – $195.04 million
