Mohanlal’s much-celebrated film Thudarum has officially ended its seven-week journey in theatres. Despite premiering early on OTT platforms, the film still managed to attract moviegoers to cinemas. Thanks to strong support from the audience and good reviews, it added several lakhs to its box office collection in the last few days.
Thudarum, directed by Tharun Moorthy, is a Malayalam-language crime thriller that received highly positive feedback from both critics and the general public. Viewers appreciated the story, performances, and direction, which helped the movie maintain a solid run for almost 49 days in theatres.
Even in its seventh week, Thudarum showed decent performance, collecting ₹18 lakh in its final few days. Although the numbers had slowed down, the film’s overall journey was already a huge success.
Box Office Collection in India
After running in cinemas for 49 days, Thudarum has earned ₹121.92 crore net at the Indian box office, according to Sacnilk. When you include taxes, the gross collection in India reaches ₹143.86 crore. With its theatrical run now almost complete, the film is expected to end with a total of around ₹122 crore net in India.
Overseas Collection Boosts Thudarum’s Worldwide Total
The movie also did excellent business overseas, collecting a strong ₹93.80 crore gross. When you combine this with the Indian gross collection, Thudarum’s worldwide box office total stands at a massive ₹237.66 crore gross. This makes it a historic blockbuster in the Malayalam film industry.
Just Misses Manjummel Boys’ Record
Even though Thudarum achieved many milestones, it couldn’t cross the box office total of the Malayalam hit Manjummel Boys. That film earned ₹241.56 crore gross worldwide, placing it second on the list of highest-grossing Malayalam films. With Thudarum ending at ₹237.66 crore, it missed the mark by just ₹3.9 crore, which is a very small difference considering the scale.
Thudarum’s Box Office Success – A Historic Feat for Mohanlal
Even if it didn’t grab the second spot, Thudarum has now become the third highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. For Mohanlal and the team behind the film, this is still a massive achievement. With its gripping storyline, solid direction, and powerful performances, the film will be remembered as one of Mollywood’s biggest box office successes.
