If there’s one legal drama that fans always look forward to, it’s Criminal Justice. The much-awaited Criminal Justice Season 4 is now arriving on JioCinema (formerly Hotstar), and the trailer has just been released. The new season once again stars Pankaj Tripathi as the clever lawyer Madhav Mishra, who wins hearts every time he walks into the courtroom in his iconic black coat.

This time, the case is bigger and more intense. Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub plays the main accused, while Surveen Chawla appears as the co-accused. The trailer promises a complex story with twists and courtroom drama, something the show is already known for. But the question on many minds is – is the story becoming too predictable?

The new season seems to follow the same formula seen in the past three seasons – the accused is confused, the evidence keeps changing, and the real drama plays out in the courtroom. But Pankaj Tripathi’s performance always adds a fresh and engaging touch to it. He brings something unique to Madhav Mishra every time, making us want to keep watching.

However, this time around, the trailer makes you wonder – will Madhav Mishra finally lose a case? That’s a twist we haven’t seen before. And honestly, it might be a welcome change! Especially because the other side of the courtroom is just as strong. Shweta Basu Prasad plays the opposing lawyer and is joined by the powerful Mita Vashisht, who is fighting for the co-accused. Watching these talented actors go head-to-head will surely keep viewers hooked.

It’s also interesting to note that the show might be taking inspiration from other popular legal dramas. With Mita Vashisht in the trailer, it reminds fans of the recently released Raisinghani vs Raisinghani on Sony Liv, which starred Jennifer Winget and Karan Wahi as lawyers. So, the makers of Criminal Justice must ensure this new season offers something different.

Instead of another story where an innocent person is trapped in the legal system and a powerful figure is manipulating the truth, fans are hoping for a fresh angle. A shocking loss for Madhav Mishra could be that twist. It might even open the door for a new storyline in the next season.

One of the trailer’s most impactful moments is when Madhav Mishra tells the accused, “Aapki Talwar, Dhaal, Aur Ghoda teeno main hoon” – meaning he will be their sword, shield, and horse. But it also reminds us of Abhimanyu from the Mahabharata – who fought bravely, but still lost. What if this time, Madhav Mishra loses the battle but wins hearts?

With a strong cast and gripping story, Criminal Justice Season 4 looks promising. Let’s just hope it brings something new to the courtroom drama genre and doesn’t fall into the trap of being repetitive.
