Disha Patani is one of the most beautiful and stylish actresses in Bollywood. Even before the term “national crush” became popular, Disha was already being called that by her fans. According to a report by Indian Express, students at Delhi University’s Hindu College have a unique Valentine’s Day ritual that has gained attention over the years. It involves something called the “Virgin Tree” or “V-Tree.” Every year, the students select a popular Bollywood actress and hang her photo on this tree. The tree is then decorated with balloons and condoms, and a special puja (ritual) is performed in hopes of losing their virginity. This might sound unusual, but it has become a tradition at the college.
In one of the recent years, the chosen actress was Disha Patani. A second-year student named Vaibhav Singh shared with the Times of India [via Indian Express] that the senior hostellers chose Disha after a meeting. “We considered a few names, including Nargis Fakhri, but most of the guys preferred Disha Patani. So, we selected her as our Damdami Mai,” he explained.
For those unfamiliar with the term, Damdami Mai is the title given to the actress chosen for this yearly event. She is usually a popular actress who has caught the attention of young people in that year. On the morning of February 14, students perform a puja at the Virgin Tree. A fresher, or first-year student, usually acts as the priest for the ceremony. Condoms and colorful balloons are used to decorate the tree, and the event is treated with both humor and tradition by the students.
Over the years, other famous Bollywood actresses like Aishwarya Rai and Deepika Padukone have also been worshipped as Damdami Mai at Hindu College. Many students believe that if they pray sincerely to Damdami Mai on Valentine’s Day, they will meet their partner within six months and lose their virginity within a year.
Apart from being a national crush, Disha Patani is known for her bubbly personality and action-packed roles in films. She has worked with big stars like Salman Khan and Prabhas and continues to surprise fans with her fashion choices and fitness. She’s not just an actress but also a popular fashion influencer on social media.
On the work front, Disha was last seen in Kanguva and Kalki 2898 AD in 2024. She is now expected to appear in the upcoming comedy film Welcome to the Jungle, starring Akshay Kumar.
