The biographical drama Phule, starring Pratik Gandhi and Patralekha, is having a tough time at the box office. Despite being based on a powerful real-life story, the film has failed to attract audiences to theatres. The movie, which focuses on the life of social reformers Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule, is not performing well and has turned out to be a disappointment in terms of earnings.

Phule Day 5 Box Office Collection

On its fifth day in theatres, Phule collected only ₹30 lakh. While this is a 25% increase from its Day 4 earnings of ₹24 lakh, the overall performance remains weak. The total India net collection of the film now stands at just ₹1.59 crore.

Here’s a breakdown of Phule’s day-wise box office performance:

  • Day 1: ₹15 lakh
  • Day 2: ₹30 lakh
  • Day 3: ₹60 lakh
  • Day 4: ₹24 lakh
  • Day 5: ₹30 lakh

Total: ₹1.59 crore

The film still hasn’t crossed the ₹2 crore mark and is unlikely to do much better in the coming days. With such low numbers, Phule is considered a box office washout and may end its theatrical run with less than ₹5 crore in total collections.

Poor Buzz and Controversies Affecting the Film

From the beginning, Phule had low buzz and minimal promotional hype. The film did not manage to create excitement among moviegoers. Additionally, it was caught in a few controversies that further hurt its chances at the box office. These issues, combined with stiff competition and low footfalls, have caused the film to struggle despite its strong subject matter.

Comparison with Pratik Gandhi’s Previous Film

Compared to Pratik Gandhi’s last theatrical release, Do Aur Do Pyaar, Phule is lagging behind by about 40%. To put things in perspective, Do Aur Do Pyaar managed to earn ₹50 lakh on its fifth day, a much better figure than Phule‘s ₹30 lakh. Although that film also didn’t set the box office on fire, it still performed better than this biopic.

Budget vs Collection

According to reports, Phule was made on a budget of around ₹25 crore. With the current net collection of ₹1.59 crore, the film has recovered just about 6.36% of its total cost. At this pace, there is very little hope for the film to break even, let alone make a profit. Even a jump in weekend collections might not be enough to save it.

About the Film

Phule is directed by Anant Mahadevan and tells the inspiring story of Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule, pioneers of social reform and education in India. The film stars Pratik Gandhi and Patralekha in the lead roles, with Vinay Pathak, Suresh Vishwakarma, and Sushil Pandey in important supporting roles.

Despite its meaningful storyline and strong performances, Phule has failed to leave a mark at the box office. Unless the film picks up drastically in the coming days, it will go down as one of the bigger disappointments of 2025.
