Sunny Deol’s latest action-packed film Jaat hit cinemas last Thursday and kicked off with a strong start, especially in North India. The movie might not be breaking records like Gadar 2, but it’s still putting up a good fight at the box office.

On its opening day, Jaat collected an impressive ₹9.5 crore. The momentum continued into the weekend with ₹9.75 crore on Saturday and a solid ₹14 crore on Sunday. The three-day total of ₹33.25 crore proves that Sunny Deol continues to be a major crowd-puller, especially in states like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

However, the film’s collections began to slow down as the week progressed. Monday saw a dip to ₹7.25 crore, though it was slightly helped by the Ambedkar Jayanti holiday in some parts of the country. Tuesday brought in ₹6 crore, and by Wednesday, the numbers dropped to ₹4 crore. So far, Jaat has earned ₹57.50 crore at the domestic box office.

Despite the strong opening, the downward trend during the weekdays could make it tough for Jaat to reach the ₹100 crore mark unless it sees a big turnaround in the coming weekend.

Jaat Wins Big in Northern India

The film has done exceptionally well in the northern belt of India. On its first day, cities like Jaipur recorded higher numbers than Mumbai, with only Delhi bringing in more. In Rajasthan, Jaat is already close to overtaking the lifetime earnings of the hit film Sikandar, and it’s expected to surpass it within its first week.

However, Jaat now faces new competition. Advance bookings have started for Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited Kesari Chapter 2, which is expected to attract a similar audience. This could affect Jaat’s performance, especially in regions where it has been doing well so far.

Southern States Favor Local Star Power

In South India, Jaat is finding it tough to grab attention. Ajith Kumar’s new release Good Bad Ugly is dominating the southern box office. With strong reviews and big crowds, it’s becoming a major success, which makes it difficult for Jaat to make its mark in those states.

Star Cast and Direction

Jaat is directed by Gopichand Malineni, who is making his debut in Hindi cinema. The film boasts a powerful cast with Sunny Deol in the lead, supported by Randeep Hooda, Regina Cassandra, Saiyami Kher, Ramya Krishnan, and Jagapathi Babu. The combination of action and emotion has helped the movie connect with audiences in the Hindi-speaking belt.

What’s Next for Jaat?

While Jaat has had a solid start, the next few days will be crucial. With more films hitting theatres, especially big releases like Kesari Chapter 2, Jaat needs strong word-of-mouth and weekend support to continue its box office journey.
