Veera Dheera Sooran’s Box Office Run in India

Chiyaan Vikram’s latest Tamil action thriller, Veera Dheera Sooran, started off slowly but gained some momentum in its early days. However, the positive start didn’t last long, and the film is now struggling at the Indian box office. Despite receiving good reviews and decent word-of-mouth in the beginning, the movie couldn’t maintain its pace. As it nears the end of its third week in theatres, it is clearly losing steam.

On its 20th day (third Tuesday), Veera Dheera Sooran earned just ₹13 lakh at the Indian box office. That’s a drop of 38.09% compared to its day 19 collection of ₹21 lakh. Most of the movie’s earnings now come from the Tamil version, while the Telugu-dubbed version has almost stopped collecting.

So far, the film has made ₹41.91 crore net (₹49.45 crore gross) in India, according to Sacnilk. This is quite disappointing, especially since the reported budget of the film is around ₹55 crore. With the current trend, the film is expected to end its run below ₹45 crore, which is not enough to break even.

Another Setback for Chiyaan Vikram

Veera Dheera Sooran has become another setback for Chiyaan Vikram at the box office. Unfortunately, this continues a streak of underperforming films for the actor in the post-COVID era.

Since the pandemic, Vikram has had five theatrical releases. Out of these, his solo films have failed to cross the ₹50 crore net mark in India. His recent movies, Cobra, Thangalaan, and now Veera Dheera Sooran, all got stuck in the ₹40–₹49 crore range.

To break it down:

  • Cobra made ₹43.47 crore net.
  • Thangalaan earned ₹46.15 crore net.
  • Veera Dheera Sooran is expected to close below ₹45 crore.

This pattern has become a kind of “post-COVID jinx” for Vikram’s solo releases, as none of them have been able to achieve major success at the box office.

What’s Next for Vikram?

Vikram’s next big release is Dhruva Natchathiram, which is currently enjoying decent buzz. Fans are hopeful that this film will finally break the jinx. If the movie gets strong reviews and good word-of-mouth, it has a good chance to cross the ₹50 crore mark at the Indian box office.

Dhruva Natchathiram is expected to hit theatres in May, and all eyes are now on this release. With the right promotion and audience support, Vikram might finally score a big win post-COVID.
