Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty recently shared the joy of becoming a grandfather, calling it a feeling that words can’t fully express. On March 24, his daughter Athiya Shetty and son-in-law KL Rahul welcomed their baby girl, and life has felt different ever since.
Suniel opened up about this beautiful new phase in an emotional post on LinkedIn. The veteran actor, known for his action-packed roles and strong screen presence, reflected on how this moment shifted something deep inside him.
He talked about how he spent years chasing success — the best film roles, bigger business deals, more money, and constant recognition. “It’s funny how life works,” he wrote. “You spend years chasing things you think will make you happy — the right roles, more money, a bigger office. But real joy comes from the simplest things.”
For Suniel Shetty, who has seen success in both films and business, the most meaningful moment didn’t come from fame or fortune — it came from quietly holding his newborn granddaughter. He said, “Becoming a grandfather is a happiness I can’t even describe. It’s pure joy — untouched by anything the world can give or take away.”
He also shared how decades of working hard suddenly felt less important in that peaceful moment. “When I hold my granddaughter, none of that matters. The race for more fades away. Seeing my Amma (mother) hold her great-granddaughter is a memory I will cherish forever.”
Suniel also took a trip down memory lane, remembering his childhood in Mangalore. He recalled running barefoot in the fields, enjoying home-cooked meals, and spending time with family. “Joy came from simple things — laughter, nature, and family. But somewhere, I got caught up in the race for more,” he admitted.
Now, with his granddaughter in his arms, Suniel says he feels more at peace. “There’s a lightness, a contentment I haven’t felt in years. It’s like life is reminding me to slow down, keep things simple, and enjoy the little moments.”
Despite this emotional shift, Suniel Shetty is not stepping away from acting. He was last seen in Naadaniyan, where he played Khushi Kapoor’s father. Fans can also look forward to seeing him in Welcome to the Jungle, directed by Ahmed Khan. The movie features a big star cast including Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Paresh Rawal, Disha Patani, and Jacqueline Fernandez. The film is expected to hit theatres later this year.
Additionally, Suniel will return in Hera Pheri 3, reprising one of his most loved roles.
Even with his busy film schedule, it’s clear that Suniel’s heart now belongs to the newest member of the family — his granddaughter. This new chapter has brought him a kind of happiness that no award, role, or business success ever could.
